I will admit that I do find the Twilight books addictive, however, I believe there are many other authors that deserve the attention Stephanie Meyer is receiving for her books. My reasons include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Where on earth did this "brilliant" get such "fabulous" ideas?--She had a dream in which a vampire boy fell in love with a human girl and woke up to ask herself, "now, does he kill her, or fall in love with her??" Of course, this was only AFTER a night of watching Dracula while reading Romeo and Juliet...
2. BELLA- Bella is needy, dependent, and really quite pathetic in her naivety. What does Edward really see in her? She's not particularly pretty, nor is there anything astounding about her personality.
3. Stephanie Meyer's fabulous books are written, as if to address a child. Her writing techniques are simple, underdeveloped and rather boring. Her vocabulary is also rather limited. After all, it only took her all of THREE months to write the first book, hardly enough time to finish a draft of a book of such length, let alone time for editing and revising.
4. Meyer's characters are flat. They do not develop at all throughout the series (besides Jacob becoming a werewolf, of course, but really, who didn't see that one coming?).
5. Is it just me, or does Edward seem really creepy? Or does every girl want a boyfriend that secretly watches her sleep and follows her around, all the while, fighting the uncontrollable desire to drink her blood... I guess I must be old fashioned.
6. Did anyone else notice that, despite the fact the Cullens' are disguising as a 'family' made up of adopted children, Rosalie and Emmet as well as Jasper and Alice are dating? Last time I checked, incest was a bad thing. Even in adoption situations.
7. In my opinion, the relationship between Bella and Edward is very unrealistic. Bella claims she wishes to be with Edward forever, but be honest, how many times have you made those kind of promises to the person you're dating, only to break up with them a few months, weeks, sometimes even days later?
8. The character of Edward Cullen has girls swooning all over the world. Every girl wishes they could have an "Edward" all their own, however, he's not real. Stephanie Meyer created him, knowing and wanting girls to fall in love with him.
Boys jobs are hard enough, trying to understand us women, let's not create such impossible expectations to add to their troubles, shall we?
9. In regards to the movie; the graphics and special effects were terrible. Particularly the scenes were the vampires were "running," as they call it.
10. Some of the lines from the book were so corny, the actors in the movie didn't even want to say them!
11. Stephanie Meyers' editors can't revise properly, therefore, sentences are really confusing to read at times due to error
(DON'T HATE ME!)
